Resources in the Greater Washington Area
www.strokecomebackcenter.org Finding services to continue to improve after your insurance has run out is not easy. We support the Stroke Comeback Center. It is a fully recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, dedicated to helping people continue to make improvements in their communication skills, regardless of ability to pay. The Center has communication groups (run like small classes) that cover all areas of communication deficit. It also has a Computer Assisted Treatment Lab to assist with improving communication, and provides general support and other resources related to all facets of stroke. We serve on the Center’s Consumer Advisory Board, and volunteer in fundraising, marketing, planning events, and any other ways we can help, and make financial contributions to support its activities.
www.mcstroke.org The Montgomery County Stroke Association (MCSA) is a non-profit (501-C-3) charitable organization run by and for stroke survivors and their caregivers. The MCSA has three chapters in Montgomery County, Maryland, which offer free monthly stroke support and education programs. MCSA also publishes a monthly newsletter (the Communique') and an E-Bulletin, sponsors monthly computer-aided speech-language therapy sessions, and provides 24/7 telephone support (301-681-6272).
